I bought 2 of these gates to block the bottom and top of the stairs in my house. At the time I had two children aged 3 and 1. Pros: Easy to install with the manual included. Locks automatically when closed. Comes with a high or low transom to accommodate the difference between the top and bottom transom when working with wall moldings. Cons: The quality is questionable. I bought 2 and 1 came from the factory with curved rails. It was easy to pry back with pliers, but if you don't, the door will keep readjusting and will be too long when closed. It's too easy to unlock. We wanted a gate that would be easy to open and close for my 3 year old. When my daughter was big enough at 19 months, she taught herself how to open the gate. Our solution was to put a rubber band in front of the latch switch so you have to use a lot of force to get the latch to the open position. Conclusion: This gate is perfect for pets or crawling babies. Inexpensive, easy to install and easy to open. For naughty children, these gates are easy to overcome. Choose depending on the situation.
