I give it to 2 male domestic cats; 1 has urinary problems (crystals), the other does not. D-Mannose works the same way in cats as it does in humans; It's a "locked" sugar molecule that binds to bacteria and isn't absorbed by the body, allowing the bacteria to exit with it. This helped a lot when the crystals caused a blockage in our 6 year old cat (1 scoop 3 times a day for 5 days) and we continued to give it to BOTH cats as a preventive measure, 1 scoop a day for 12lbs. cats. 1/2 scoop for smaller (8 month old) 6 lbs. BTW - it's supposed to be tasty - I just sprinkle it on wet/canned food, mash it up a bit with a spoon (it disappears) and they eat it. A 6 year old is very picky (usually won't eat anything he's unsure about until he sniffs/checks for 5 minutes) and he just loves it. From day one, no hesitation. Plus, our vet says it's good for cats with urinary problems.
