Review on Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Gate: Safeguarding Your Stairs with Style by Dana Bennett

This gate is really well built and strong when closed. Installing the gate itself was relatively easy, but I also installed it for ease of removal and installation. We are grandparents looking after a grandchild at least one day a week. We needed a goal but we wanted to be able to take it away when he wasn't with us. The second photo shows additional pieces of wood used to build the half walls. The gate itself is permanently attached to some 1" boards which are then bolted securely to other wood which is attached to 4x4s in the walls with 5" bolts. The 3 screws holding each of the two 1" plates (which the gate brackets attach to) are removable. I've used threaded inserts in the boards they attach to, but T-nuts or even bolts alone would have worked. I can install or remove the gate in about 2 minutes.
