I'm used to using an industrial heat sealer, so it took me some time to get used to this machine. The coil's protective strip burned out immediately. I must have set the settings too high. After getting used to the heating mode, it worked very well. If I had to rebuild I would buy the one that had a built in cutter. I don't expect this item to last long but it helped me get through the holiday season. Happy with my purchase.
