Review on Whetstone Sharpening Stone 1000/4000 by Gregory Shin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Instructions for care and use please!

Update: Following my review yesterday (below), Anna at BearMoo kindly sent in an instruction manual. Thank you! And so I've updated my rating to 5 stars. Good product! This was the first whetstone I bought. After watching a few instructional videos, I started using it straight away. I found the process almost meditative and the BärMuh stone extremely effective! The first knife I sharpened was very blunt with small jagged edges. The 1000 grit side effectively removes jagged dents and creates a good cut edge. The 4000 grit side made the knife razor sharp. The process took almost 40 minutes. My only complaint is that there was no whetstone literature describing the proper use of the product. No product description. No user manual. There is no care and treatment. no first steps.zip, null, nada. Some videos I watched suggested soaking the stone for 12-15 minutes before using. One suggested using vegetable oil on the finish instead of water/soak (I used water and a 15 minute pre-soak). So instead of a simple "out of the box and use” approach, it took a bit of research before sharpening the knife. Otherwise I would give this product 5 stars.
