I bought my 2015 GLA 250 CPO as a basic (no options) cheap entry point to Mercedes. But I quickly realized that I needed a reversing camera, and the so-called "infotainment system" isn't very good at providing information (and entertainment)! (NTG 4.5) I had no navigation system, no reversing camera, almost nothing but a radio and an iPod input. This forced me to use my Android phone for almost everything and nothing was built into the car. I bought this unit and I have to admit it took me about a week to install it. Of course, I didn't need a car for a week, and sometimes it was 35 degrees in the shade, so I didn't spend a lot of time on it every day. But this installation is not for the faint of heart. It's actually very simple in terms of connections, but disassembling your Mercedes can be exhausting and scary. I watched YouTube videos for different types of installations showing how the different parts of the car were put together and carefully made one section at a time until I had the entire dash and tailgate disassembled. It was a scary sight, but everything came together perfectly! I added two cameras, a front camera in the badge and a rear camera in the tailgate latch (both bought from Revain for less than $40). These works are AMAZING! When I shift into reverse, the rear view appears on the screen, and when I shift into drive mode, it switches to the front camera for 10 seconds. This is very practical for parallel parking in tight spaces. I'm having trouble connecting to Android Auto. This only seems to work 1 time out of 3 or so. But I realized it was my phone because my husband's phone (we both have a Moto Z3) connects every time. I may restart or replace my phone soon as I expect the issue to resolve itself if I switch phones. My phone has been acting strange lately so I'm pretty sure something is wrong with my phone. There are two options I would like for this device to make absolutely perfect: 1. Interface to an OBD2 scanner. Android Auto doesn't have an app for this (DUH?), so it would be nice if I could display real-time dash information on the device (note my photo, my phone is mounted under the stock screen running Torque Pro). 2. . optional built-in DVR that can record images from the camera. For example a loop through RCA input/output that captures the signal from the camera as it passes through the device. This would turn my front camera into a DVR, but very unobtrusive. I can't imagine something like this doesn't already exist, but I couldn't find anything that could. The manufacturer says it supports DVR standards, but I don't want to use the DVR as the camera channel, I want to use the camera channel as the DVR. I hope that makes sense. It would be really nice to have both of those features, but this thing is already a great upgrade. I got functionality for $300 that was probably worth $1200 (plus a lot of sweat and swearing). The instructions were perfectly adequate for what needed to be done. I've never needed support, so I can't comment on that. In general, I'm excited!
