Due to the HT/AQ designations on this unit there was too much confusion, almost sent it back - Instructions for HT was sent after the return started, the seller sent an email AQ pdf which inspired me to take the product seriously. However, I'm not exactly sure about the absolute numbers compared to the $2,000 counter, but it gives a good indication of the relative number of particles in a 50 second sample. For example at the low end of 0.03 approximately: inside 5000 +/- 2000, in the garage 12,000 +/- 4000, outside 150,000 (I'm in California). For real medical/scientific work, this is the entry-level product most likely to need or need to be completed. As a home product it will be invaluable for measuring progress on HVAC/carpet cleaning and air filtration monitoring, which is exactly what we wanted. So I can recommend the product to many people.
