I needed this product to drill 8/16mm diameter holes in shower tiles and install 2 safety bars. Drilling cannot be started without a guide plate due to tip movement. As a baffle, I drilled a 16mm hole in a thin board and glued it to the tile with scarf tape. The guide plate moves without a scarf band. Remove the guide plate after drilling about 1mm through the tile. For the plaster behind the tiles I used a cement drill, which is faster than a tile drill. I didn't use water to cool the bit head but I had no problem drilling 8 holes and it was very easy and very quick. Be sure to use a slow speed when drilling.
