Mini Tropod - Tripods and Monopods

Very bright room lighting. The lenses for this camera are not very fast. Even at maximum aperture, the shutter speed is too slow to capture sharp images when you're holding the camera, even at telephoto with image stabilization. With the camera on a tripod and a hand on the tripod or on the camera, it's solid, the hand no longer shakes for about 1/15 of a second. The camera is also less visible than when I hold it at chest or face level. The tripod head is machined aluminum, with a good camera gimbal clamp and the usual standard camera screw. The telescopic legs are made of durable tubular steel and are available in three sections. They are attached to the head with a good hinge. The tips of the legs are plastic, not rubber. With telescoping and splayed legs, the top of the head is only 4 1/2 inches above the table. This keeps the camera relatively low and unobtrusive, but high enough that I can see the rear LCD for framing. With this small, lightweight camera on a tripod, I also held folded legs in my left hand like a pistol grip and held the camera body in my right hand, controlling the shutter and camera settings with my right thumb and forefinger. This is a secure, stable hold.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
