This band has one feature that I really appreciate: it has a semi-lock type design that keeps the band light but allows for easy movement. You can still lock it traditionally, but I use half locking more often than not. It's small, light, easy to hold and read, and the breakage indicators make it fast too. No more counting out ⅛ of the marker. There is about 4 ½ feet of padding on the band, which is normal for a 12 foot band. I bought three of these for the store along with another box of pencils. You'll never be able to find where you put the tape or pencil, so the more of these I'll take with me, the more likely I'll trip over the tape when I'm looking for it. Best 12" tape I've ever used. .
