First, they work. These are genuine Ford products. From someone who has worked on cars about a dozen times, I would like to say that if you suffer from the inevitable failure of the phase shifters in a 5.4 liter Ford 3V engine, you need genuine parts. My point is that there is no reason they should cost more than $220 for a phaser unit. Ford keeps you on the run and can charge that much due to its own flawed design of 5.4-litre engines where these parts are very, very prone to failure. If you've done this work yourself, you know it's a pain and you never want to do it again. If you've paid someone to do this work, your wallet will know you don't want to go through it again. Shame on Ford for their design, and a double shame on them for charging customers so much to fix a problem caused only by their own crappy design. If you're still under warranty, be sure to contact the retailer to fix the problem. If you're looking for a 5.4 liter 3v Triton engine because you're planning to buy a car that has it fitted, don't think twice about it, just turn around and walk away. If you do this job yourself, make sure you have all the necessary tools on hand. Also note that this is a two person job once you've removed the valve covers.
