I don't know if it was a cheap monitor that was cheap for some reason or if I got a bad set or if the Asus display quality has really gone down since I bought the last one of their HD displays . but this device I was very disappointed. .• Colors were very washed out and could not be brought to decent accuracy with any manipulation of native controls or OS-based calibration. • The contrast was depressing. A decent black level seemed unattainable. Remember the days of laptops without active matrix displays? Yes. it looked something like this. • sharpness was. Well it just wasn't. Text looked annoyingly blurry and couldn't be effectively sharpened to a comfortable level. The ONLY thing I liked about it (hence the 2 stars) is that it really goes perfectly with the rimless design. The bezel was incredibly thin, and even the inactive, masked border around the active pixel area was negligible. Unfortunately, if everything inside the four corners looks terrible, it doesn't matter how thin and vanishing those corners and edges are. I've recommended Asus displays in the past as surprisingly good budget options, but after that I can't take it anymore. I returned it in less than 24 hours.
