I bought them because I was tired of the coffee being warm before I finished it. I don't swallow it, so it always got uncomfortably cold before I'd finished. Vacuum cups like the Contigo are efficient and great for in-car use, but I don't like the aesthetics. Also, coffee actually tastes different and better when you drink it from a glass or ceramic mug. They really get the job done. Coffee stays hot to the last drop. Surprisingly. From the outside of the mug, you'll never guess the coffee is still hot because it's cool to the touch. Nice big pens that I like. The glass is light and feels quite fragile, but I haven't had any issues with normal use. I didn't expect them to be unbreakable and every mug I used would shatter if dropped. They work well in the dishwasher and in the microwave. After brewing the cup, I add some cream and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm it up properly. I was concerned that their design wouldn't allow for this, but the listing says it is possible and I can vouch for it. An added benefit is the ability to see nice coffee in the cup (and also tell you how much is left in the cup!). Happy with my purchase and bearing in mind that they must be treated with care, as befits an elegant coffee mug!
