Let me start by saying that this is a clip in version. One of the other reviews I read said they were adhesive but the ones I got were with clips. Second, they suggest you remove the bars, I agree. All you really have to do is pull the grille forward a bit, but that's necessary because you need to get to the back of the grille to make sure each insert is fully engaged until it clicks into place. You can't make sure it's protected from the front. You will be tempted to try, but trust me, you don't want to risk it, especially when it's so easy to do right. I'll admit I was a little scared of pulling the grate myself, but in fact it's just a piece of plastic held in place by plastic clasps. You can easily remove the plastic fasteners with a screwdriver, but it's best if you buy pliers to make sure they come out smooth and easy. Once inside they really enhance the look of the jeep and I think keep dirt and bugs off your grill. Opar will also email you the instruction manual along with the one in the box. Nice gesture. Yes, another important point: the inserts, like the slots in your grill, are NOT symmetrical, even though they appear to be. So there is a top and a bottom, and you need to make sure each is "right side up" when you insert it. I didn't get it at first, but I got lucky with the first five, so it took me a second to figure out why the last two didn't match. Rschunimagu. But as soon as I turned them right side up, they clicked slightly, like the rest.
