I really like it for several reasons

Engineer. I like this a lot for a number of reasons. The packaging is good. Arrived safely, no damage despite the weight. This is a good size for any location that uses a 13A fused plug as you won't be getting more than 3000 watts from one anyway. The construction is solid and has a good fit/finish. It comes with a US plug which is not ideal for my situation. We are in the UAE and I need to upgrade to 120VAC. I didn't want to use a wall adapter, but I was able to find a local plug with screw terminals for about AED 7 ($2) at a local supermarket. US style unplug and plug in this bad boy and you're done. It doesn't make any noise and you still have a universal 220V socket to which you can connect anything with a switching power supply. EDIT: I had to deduct two stars here. I've had two of these units where the 120 volt outlet on the front panel has failed. It looks like the contacts get hot and come out the back of the socket and then stop making contact. My wife uses these on her hair dryer so I would expect that to be a factor. Despite this, the load on the hair dryer is less than the rated load. The good news is that it's not that hard to fix. I attached one using the cut end of an extension, hot glue, and wire nuts. The other one I upgraded with a dual 120V outlet + 2 USB charging ports. Used a dremel to cut a profile out of sheet metal. It's a tight fit but a really nice upgrade.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Hard to say here
