I have a 6" and a 2" machine square and need a 4" square to complete my set. I work with wood so the high precision of the top end squares would be wasted. As long as it catches the eye directly, it will work for me. I received and opened it. The box it came in was sturdy but a bit worn. I opened the package and wiped off the protective oil. Contrary to other uninformed reviews, I think the protective oil coating is a good thing. Metal will rust if not protected. I measured the squareness outside and then measured the squareness inside. I think it's perfect. Machinist squares should not have graduations, they are not used for measuring. They test things for, well, squareness. A sharp edge just means a great reference edge if I also check for squareness. I am very happy with the accuracy of this tool, mainly because of its affordable price.
