Non-Square Angle + Crooked Blade + Stains = Useless Tool

Given the low price, I wasn't expecting a top-notch tool, but when I removed this square from its very greasy bag, I was immediately disappointed. After wiping off the dripping oil, I found that the square was so wrong it was unusable. The underside of the blade protrudes from the base so it's not even at a 90 degree angle to the workbench. The edge of the blade isn't even straight. What's the point of having an indirect square with a crooked blade? I return it and spend more to find a legalโ€ฆ

Really great buy imo

I think this inexpensive precision square made in India by Woodstock International might appeal to a lot of people. It was well oiled with a decent polish around the edges. There's no such terrible milling pattern as the Taytools line. All edges are sharp here, but also very precise. I haven't seen any trouble holding it against my Incra or Starrett squares. I prefer the blade to be the same width, like 1 inch. Here we have a blade width = 0.740" and a head width = 0.770". The blade is 4.692"โ€ฆ

So bad it's coming back

I bought one of these D3384 squares a few years ago and it arrived in Steelex packaging and was accurate and worked well so I ordered another. The one I just received came in the oiled packaging (that others have mentioned), bubble wrapped and mailed in a padded envelope. To me it looks like a broken square that should be scrapped. The outer beam/blade angle is 90 degrees, so it gets two stars for that. But the inner edge of the blade is bulbous and has an uneven width throughout its lengthโ€ฆ

Big and neat little 4 inch square.

I have a 6" and a 2" machine square and need a 4" square to complete my set. I work with wood so the high precision of the top end squares would be wasted. As long as it catches the eye directly, it will work for me. I received and opened it. The box it came in was sturdy but a bit worn. I opened the package and wiped off the protective oil. Contrary to other uninformed reviews, I think the protective oil coating is a good thing. Metal will rust if not protected. I measured the squarenessโ€ฆ

High precision. The price was nice.

I ordered it in "used-good" condition for five dollars. According to the description, there was slight wear on the blade. For this price I am very happy with it. Because it's solid steel with no moving parts, I can be sure it won't break. It's really quite intense. If I need more precision than the combined caret or if I need to quickly check 90 or a ruler, this would be my new choice. It would have been nice if the handle had a 45 degree edge, but that's a minor complaint. Overall this toolโ€ฆ

Milling and roughing is not safe

I was looking for a small, handy and accurate square that could be used as the main tool in my home machine shop. Unfortunately this is not what I wanted. Although this square is actually a "square" (tested on block 1-2-3), it's so poorly made that I doubt I'll ever use it. All edges have "dangerously sharp" ground edges. None of the edges have been bevelled. While the edges are square, they have sharp, jagged edges from milling and machining. It's not something I want to keep in my apronโ€ฆ

  • Excellent overall performance

  • Doubtful

Should it be "L "? But man, it's a square!

I watch a lot of tutorials, read a lot of manuals and device reviews. I always thought I didn't need it. I delayed ordering for months (although I don't know why, in principle I would have guessed) and finally reached into the children's college fund to finance this shiny steel accessory. When my video doorbell announced their arrival, my heart skipped a beat, I finally had the steel letter "L" called square. I couldn't get my table saw, miter saw, triangle square (also out of shape like aโ€ฆ
