OK. If you're looking for a QUALITY rating (and not something others haven't), here's what you need to know about this coffee maker. We bought this to replace the 12 cup Black and Decker we've had for years. Our problem with the BND block was that it filled the filter area with water and leaked everywhere unless the carafe was perfectly in the kettle. This was EXTREMELY annoying and could ruin the start of a good morning when your coffee wasn't in the carafe but on the counter and floor. 1. We need a coffee maker with a programmable option (I want my coffee to start about 15 minutes before the alarm goes off) CHECK!2. We wanted a device with a stainless steel carafe instead of a glass CHECK!3. We wanted a device that keeps coffee warm for a long time. CHECK!4. Reading the reviews we didn't want the unit to go over the counter. TO VERIFY! Here's what I can tell you: GOOD: 1. The coffee stays warm for AT LEAST 4 hours after the coffee is made when sitting in the carafe. (I left the house and went back to HOT coffee, it was 4am).2. The carafe is heavy, durable and fits the device snugly, I haven't had and don't expect any leaks.3. Programming is easy, and YES you can turn off the beeper so the machine will NEVER beep when the coffee is ready etc. BAD: Really the only complaint I have is that this carafe has a TERRIBLE design when it comes to the spout for pouring. They build the interior around the perimeter of the device. The pot has to be tilted forward excessively to get coffee (or water when filling) out of the pot. I believe they did this to create a tighter seal so the coffee stays warm longer. I would say that this is one of those things that "takes the corner with the straight". I really enjoy drinking hot coffee for long periods of time, but it really annoys me that the coffee flows so slowly, takes longer than it should to fill due to the crappy pouring design, etc. Honestly, I'm very happy with this coffee maker. I feel like the coffee is VERY good, VERY hot when it's fresh out of the carafe (much hotter than my BND device has ever gotten) and it works very well and is an easy device to use. I'll add, I've noticed that I have to add MORE coffee per cup of water than I ever would have needed with my old BND design. Not sure why. As a reminder, we used to use 4 scoops of whole beans for every 12 cups of water, now we use 6 scoops for every 8 cups of water (we grind the beans at night when we put them in the coffee maker to brew in the morning). . Buy this device, enjoy your coffee, customize what you need for your recipe.
