I've been researching Bluetooth receivers for a long time. Since my amp has a high quality built-in DAC, I originally bought the receiver without a DAC, thinking the Auris BluMe would be overkill. The communication on that first device was terrible so I returned it. That's why we decided on this receiver and the Audio Engine B1 Premium. A lot of the reviews I've read were of the former Auris BluMe, so take that into account when researching. This one comes with updated Bluetooth 5.0 and the same AKM4396 DAC chip as the Audio Engine B1, but $70 less. I tried my best to get the device to disconnect from my phone, including going to the back of the basement and going up the stairs, but it just kept playing music. The build quality is excellent. It can store eight paired devices, and connecting devices is very easy. Audiophiles will likely buy a dedicated DAC if they need better sound. However, I think this DAC is sufficient for most users when streaming music. It now comes with four transparent pads for the device to keep it from scratching the surface it's placed on. The USB power cable is included but not the power adapter like the RCA cable. My amp has a USB 5V output, so not having a power supply wasn't a problem for me. However, Toslink digital optics are not included. I would recommend the gold-plated FosPower 24K Toslink digital optical audio cable, available from Revain for less than $10. Overall, buy the Auris BluMe and save $70. You will not regret it.
