It took me a minute to figure out how these pieces fit together. Black button on the left, magnet on the right. Then I held her in my hands while the alarm went off and I moved up and down until the alarm went off. Once I knew the position of the magnet, I attached it to the door frame and door and moved them closer together until the alarm went off again. Then I just glued them there. I put them on all my doors, sliding glass doors and windows and it went pretty quickly once I got the hang of it. The alarm is loud enough to wake you up and definitely startle a burglar. My neighbor's dogs barked like crazy when I set them up with the alarm on, so I think they're loud enough. They all work great and I am very happy with this purchase.
