Review on Renewed AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Desktop Processor - 12 Cores, 24 Threads, Unlocked by Janis Cerins ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best offers, glad I bought it.

In the Far Cry 5 test, running at 4k resolution with a 3600X processor and a 2080ti visual card, frame rates ranged from 40 to 59. The number of frames per second has increased from 68 to 92 thanks to the new CPU. 3600x with a 2080ti loaded to between 80 and 95% of its capacity. Despite the fact that overclocking is turned off, the 5900x is only loaded by 20% of its capacity. While the voltage increased over 1.49 and probably even beyond, the Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 managed to keep the temperature at 76 degrees or higher even after it was overclocked to 4950. Because of this, I was forced to disable the overclocking feature, but the maximum hertz on each core stayed the same: 4150-4200 at a voltage of 12022-12022. At least we won't have to worry about the temperature climbing above 55 or 60 degrees today. My disadvantage is that the typical computer case needs to be upgraded to a tower, and my Gigabyte Gaming OC video card gets rather warm. However, turning off overclocking did not cause any issues with the games that I played. At this point, I've felt more happy than depressed.

Pros
  • It is lightning fast, has enough cores, and has more than enough power for even the most demanding games and graphics cards. Purchased in preparation for a future upgrade.
Cons
  • Very hot; the voltage on my OEM sample reached 1.49 volts, or possibly even higher, since. The monitoring could not be set up since it was not possible.
