Initial Appraisal - Sports

I have only received the motor/controller and am currently installing this system but it is my own design so a full appraisal will take some time. For now I decided to check what I know. The motor and controller were packaged in protective foam packaging and in a suitable shipping carton. The motor has scratches/burrs as stated in the product description. They are cosmetic in nature and do not affect performance. If you are worried about this, the engine is well polished and a simple polish can solve the problem. I wish they had the right connectors for everything. I can tell this is not an STD so my project requires me to cut the ends and label the wires which will certainly void any warranty on the controller. The presence of mating connectors can prevent this. Once my project is complete I will likely help provide a schematic that most people might be interested in. Oddly enough the brake light and gauge show an output of 48V. This is high voltage for the headlights, normal LED/vehicle headlights are 12V so it will be interesting to see if I can find headlights or a way to increase this voltage reduce. It is also not clear whether it will change to 60V when the 48V/60V SM cable is connected. There is also a reverse signal pigtail. It's not clear how to set this up, but I assume a simple NO connection will suffice. I'll edit this post when I know more, but for now the motor/controller was as expected. Video. I'm building an electric mower and using this motor for power. While some will say he's not strong enough for the job. I intend to show that most electrical conversions have far exceeded the power of the electric motor. You really don't need that much. The first picture of the original 18-20hp twin cylinder mower I received after my son drained the oil but didn't change the oil and was left with friends. Dad came home, mowed the yard and left the engine running. Chassis is in perfect condition. The video shows a test run without load. It was running at about 1/4 throttle. As you can see the chain was slack so I wasn't running fast. I'm working on a chain tensioning system and a better motor mount. Again, this was just a test. The third picture shows where I made a mistake by only using the bottom supports. When I put the wheels on the ground, the motor and torque literally bent the motor mount. Although we can fix it. A few points in my setup: 1. I am currently running my mower on (2) 24v - 2Ah drill batteries wired in series. Once I have the motor installed and wired up I will assemble a more suitable battery pack. 2. REVERSE: To reverse, all you have to do is insert a switch into the socket. A reverse twist of the throttle gives you reverse gear. It is so easy. That's all for now. Next steps are checking the brake system, brake lights, etc. Since there are no opposing connectors, I have to replace and rewire all the connections. Someone asked a question about a broken gas diagram. It does. However, you must provide more than 42V. If not, only the battery icon and the lower energy bar will be displayed. This is a sign that the battery is low. I also plan to provide a full set of plans for using this conversion engine in case anyone is interested.
