Polymer Stirrup Irons By Korsteel - A Lightweight Option for Riders

At first glance, the Polymer Stirrup Irons by Korsteel seem like a great alternative to heavy traditional stirrups. Made with sturdy polymer, they are easy to handle and give your horse a modern look. However, they have some drawbacks that I can't ignore. Firstly, the lightweight nature of the stirrups can make them slippery to use, especially when mounted on a wet or sweaty horse. I found that my boots kept slipping out of the stirrups during my rides, which was frustrating and made me feel unstable. Secondly, the width of the stirrup tread is quite narrow, which can be uncomfortable for riders with larger feet. I found that my feet would ache after a long ride due to the restricted space. Lastly, I am concerned about the long term durability of the polymer material. It seems likely that they will crack or weaken over time with frequent use. Overall, the Polymer Stirrup Irons by Korsteel are a lightweight and modern option for riders who are looking for something different from traditional stirrups. However, the slipperiness, narrower tread and longevity concerns make me hesitant to recommend them as a long term option.

Pros
  • Compared to other stirrup iron options, these polymer stirrups offer a more affordable option without sacrificing quality or durability
Cons
  • Unproven performance: Because polymer stirrup irons are a relatively new development, there is limited data available on their long-term efficacy. Riders who prefer to stick with tried-and-true equipment may be hesitant to take a chance on this new technology
