I bought this fan when I was having problems with my dryer taking too long to dry clothes. I have a 15 foot hard dryer section and a few 90 degree turns. Add 5 feet of flexible tubing between the dryer and the hardline and I figured it exceeded the max length and needed an extra fan. Before installing the fan, I cleaned the hard ducts wherever I could reach them with a 9ft x 4in flexible bottle brush-like device attached to the drill motor. Then I took the blower to the air duct and blew out a pile of fluff the size of a soccer ball. I'm glad I escaped the fire hazard! I installed a Fantech DBF4XLT accessory fan about 3 feet from the end of the duct. My installation was particularly difficult because my duct was in a drywall enclosure that spanned the width of my garage. After cutting through the drywall a bit to gain access and then altering some of the ducts, I finally completed the installation. The fan works great but was too pressure sensitive to the pressure in the duct due to the wind blowing into the exhaust causing the fan to run most of the time. My duct flap at the end of the line stays open about 1/4 inch, just enough to get air pressure back. Strong winds blow regularly where I live, so I had to do something about it. I called the Fantech tech support rep and he advised me to turn the adjustment screw in the control box a little (1/4 turn) counter-clockwise to make it less sensitive. It wasn't enough so I did a 1/2 turn and that did the trick. He made it clear that one should remember where the adjusting screw was set so that it did not deviate from the factory setting and did not turn the screw more than 1 turn. I like the indicator light that comes with the dryer so it's easy to see if the fan is on or off. I also had a dryer gas valve that malfunctioned and wasn't heating up regularly. I also replaced the gas valve and now everything works great and clothes dry like you would expect from a $1300 LG dryer. I like the reassurance of proper venting of the dryer now that I've installed the additional fan and expect it to help reduce lint buildup as well. In a month or two I'll check the duct/fan blades and install a lint screen if it starts to build up. My installation was a little painful, but overall it was worth it. The booster fan works great and I'm glad I bought it.
