5 stars for safety. It's HARD and HEAVY and I believe it will protect your dog. That was too much for my dog. She was uncomfortable walking in it. Also, there was no way I could set it up to fit my 40 lb boxer/husky mix in the back seat of my Ford Escape! (I needed them to lie down for a 4 hour car ride) I kept trying to use the shoulder harness and either it twisted or my dog got tangled trying to move. I ordered a belt clip, but I wouldn't recommend it for this belt and it didn't help either, so it's going back. I ended up ordering their plain car seat belt and used it with a different brand seat belt that attached to the car seat clip on my car seat. (So attach the mini-harness leash to the car seat clip and the carabiner to the back of the harness when I'm walking the dog). This gave my dog the freedom to sit, walk to the window and lie down without getting tangled. It won't be 100% attached to a seat with this method, but it can't walk around in the car and is restricted to the back seat.
