Seams are tight with few stitches, so there are more stitches per inch, which can strengthen fastening. 5 stars for safety. It's HARD and HEAVY and I believe it will protect your dog. That was too much for my dog. She was uncomfortable walking in it. Also, there was no way I could set it up to fit my 40 lb boxer/husky mix in the back seat of my Ford Escape! (I needed them to lie down for a 4 hour car ride) I kept trying to use the shoulder harness and either it twisted or my dog got tangled trying to move. I ordered a belt clip, but I wouldn't recommend it for this belt and it didn't help either,

**UPDATE** Ties didn't work. This hanger will NOT stay in place. She hardly ever gets off when she's buckled (unless she's trying to walk in circles to lie down), but as soon as she gets out of the car, her legs get tangled or she just falls off completely. This is very annoying and unsafe. I often had to bend her legs and neck in odd ways to untangle her while driving.
