Review on AT&T ML17939: Advanced 2-Line Corded Telephone with Digital Answering System, Caller ID/Call Waiting - Black/Silver by Tasha Powell

Slow keys, voicemail not private, sometimes sounds like poor cell phone connection

I bought this phone because the headset function works well. All in all for the low price I paid it works like a regular home office phone with caller ID, handset, headset, speakerphone and voicemail. I like the ability to add a caller ID as a contact, just like on mobile. The most annoying feature is the slow keys. If you're dialing fast, you might be able to dial more than half of a long number before the phone picks up and beeps. This can make it difficult to dial quickly if you wait for a beep while dialing. It's disappointing that voicemail can only be heard through the speaker, making it impossible to listen to messages privately through the handset or headset. The worst problem is that the sound is sometimes distorted, for example, due to poor cell phone communication. With so many conversations being conducted on cell phones, I initially wanted to blame the person I was talking to and not my landline, although it seemed to be coming from me. After several suspicious calls on a mobile phone, this also happened on another call on a landline, confirming that the problem is with the phone. This doesn't usually happen, but perhaps one in thirty calls will eventually sound distorted and won't be clear after starting. The audio is clear enough to continue a conversation, but this should never happen when calling a landline.
