Review on Topeak Shuttle Gauge with Case, featuring an Air Pressure Dial by Alvaro Delic

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product but I bought a custom shock pump instead.

Build quality seems solid. Both the gauge and fitting rotate 90 degrees to allow for use in many locations. I bought this with the intention of using it in place of a dedicated shock pump. It didn't work as intended with my Rockshox Recon Silver TK shock. Even with the Schrader fitting fully screwed in, he didn't press the valve to measure pressure or bleed air. The problem was more in the shock than with this sensor. For this application I could only fill out. It worked on my Cane Creek Double Barrel shock. Unscrewing releases only a minimal amount of air (about 1 or 2 psi). I have used it with an SKS Airmenius floor pump rated up to 180psi. The inlet fitting on the gauge was not long enough to work with the swing arm head on the pump. It took several attempts to install it far enough for air to enter the gauge. This issue is related to the design of the head but can also be an issue with other pan lock heads. I tested inflating tires with Presta valves. The Presta does not open the Presta valve, so it only shows the pressure on the gauge side of the valve that is required to open the valve. It's fine if you add air, but you can't check the pressure with air alone. I ended up returning it and ordering a custom shock pump.
