As the title suggests. DO NOT purchase any feeder that uses plastic or silicone as a base or support. If you have birds that eat seeds from it? You probably have proteins too. and proteins will destroy this thing and render it useless. A few years ago I bought another Eva Solo pet feeder with a large plastic base and the squirrels destroyed it. I called Eva Solo to ask if I could buy a replacement base and they told me the design was fine and I had to buy another one. I won't even bother with it. I just make a new steel base and upgrade it. So. Otherwise, the items from Eva Solo are beautiful. I have a lot of them. but I would absolutely NOT advise you to buy this unless it is a birdcage for your bird and you KNOW no squirrel will ever touch it. Looks beautiful. but it only lasts about 10 minutes after the squirrels find it. sucks. :(
