I followed the assembly instructions by tilting the top to the right. But in order to tighten the assembly I had to turn the top nut in the opposite direction to that specified. After a few openings, the top nut came loose from the spring and lost tension. I clamped the spring in a vise, hammered the nut back into the spring and got the same result. The problem is that if you follow the instructions, the top nut turns in a direction that WEAKS the spring it holds. The solution is to tilt the top to the left. The top nut then rotates in the TIGHTEN direction of the spring. Maybe a batch came from the factory with the spring twisted wrong, I don't know. Check yours before installing. It's easy to visualize as you twist the spring in your hand as if the gate were about to open.
