In the 90's my x got Leica binoculars with zoom to use for identifying microinvertebrates, then it cost 900 dollars, now they are double the price. She left it here when she left and I've used it from time to time, mostly to get the pieces out of my hands. I had to replace the top light 3 times and it was getting harder and harder to find. I ended up buying a gooseneck lamp to use the scope. A few months ago my x needed it back so i started looking for a cheaper version, i got a lot of shards. I found this Vision Scientific and decided to give it a try. I love this scope, it's a lot more useful than the old Leica but it's a lot bigger and heavier. I don't see any difference in the quality of the optics and it has twice the zoom of the Leica. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that it didn't come with set screws to attach the eyepieces. Sometimes when I take off the dust cover, they fall out. This oscilloscope came from AMscope, I complained about it but got no response.
