This portable ozone ion air purifier is a little beyond me. I had trouble navigating the instructions because instead of having two separate sections, one for Chinese and one for English, they were written on top of each other, which was very confusing for me. It blinked for two days because I didn't read it properly. I came back and finally found out. So, yes, there is a slight smell, similar to the smell of burning electricity. Whether it actually cleans bad air with it, I can't say. At least for now.
