Review on 🔌 Platinum Tools 100010C EZ-RJ45 Cat 6+ Connectors, Clamshell, 50-Pack by Mike Johnston

I got these and the EZ Crimp tool last week for a weekend wiring project and ended up being a nightmare. In theory, they look great and ensure perfect wire placement every time. In practice, however, actually routing the wires in the correct order is very frustrating. First let me say I used 23 AWG Cat 6 cable which if you read the reviews these connectors will not fit. Although I didn't notice that when ordering. It's not like the product description warns you about it. Long story short, it took me 4 hours to complete my first two launches (both directions). They seemed to work well and I figured it would get faster as I got better. I spent the next 12 hours making cable after cable and NONE of them worked after that. I got faster and tried everything. I inserted the wires as a whole, I inserted them one at a time with a small pair of pliers, I even tried to only insert the green and orange wires into the connector as you don't technically need the rest. wires through, then you have to push the connector all the way down to make a crimp. Depending on how far you have to slide, this can be pathetic. All of your wires should be perfectly straight, crossing each other as little as possible or the connector will get stuck halfway. Don't even try to force it down with pliers - it'll knock those golden squirrel teeth right out of the fork and they'll never be seen again. Once you finally get to the point where you can move the plug, breaking the plug is crazy. Having the wires protrude from the front of the connector is nice, but not worth the disappointment. Again, my problems may be the result of using 23 AWG Cat 6. If you have that, don't even bother. They sell Cat 6 connectors for 23 AWG elsewhere at Revain. go buy them I will say that their EZ Crimp tool is really good.
