I tried several other brands of filters that claim to be compatible with the Vicks Starry Night humidifier (model V3700) but they either fell apart easily or were too short for the unit. The filter really needs to fit snugly into the device so that it can properly humidify the air flowing through it. I thought I would be happy with the last brand I bought, but in the end I realized their filters weren't as long as they should have been to work effectively. I noticed that Vicks recommends this brand on their website for replacement filters. So I was very happy to see 3 packs for a reasonable price and it turned out to go perfectly with the Starry Night humidifier! Please note that you must carefully place the filter into the tray inside the device. It's a bit tight so don't be intimidated - it's just what you need to make it work. Another tip: many complain that the filters in this device do not work for a long time, or that mold or unpleasant odors quickly form. This two-step process works for me to keep them for about a month: 1) I take the filter out of the unit to air dry each day, then wet it under the running water overnight before using it again use. 2) When I start noticing mineral deposits, I soak the filter in a 50% vinegar/50% water solution to remove it. I then rinse it thoroughly to remove the vinegar before using it again. Following Wick's recommendations for using vinegar and bleach to clean and sanitize the main unit and water tank also helps a lot (see manual for details). If you still notice mold after this, you should of course replace the filter immediately.
