Works well, small, not immediately readable

This is a small 1 inch diameter thermometer for checking the temperature of meat and other foods. It's not oven safe so just use it to check the temperature and remove it. The problem is that it takes almost 30 seconds to get a stable reading in cold weather, so it's not ideal when using an oven. I've had the best results grilling as it comes in packaging that works well in that environment. I've only been using digital thermometers for a few years and generally prefer them, but this one doesn't have batteries to work with. out and it will always be reliable. The best spot for most meats is at the top of the dial, slightly to the right, giving you a good view of the temperature range even if you're visually impaired. The only downside is that this sensor is so small that it's not really suitable for people with poor eyesight as the writing is so small. No real complaints other than how slow and how big it is. It was reliable and I used it primarily for grilling, but for oven use I still use my digital thermometer because it gives me faster readings. I tested both against each other and the readings were the same within 1-2 degrees. This Kitchen Aid model took 15-20 seconds longer to get a stable reading.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • too stupid
