You should try to use a material that can withstand a low heat from the heat press. I used a heat press and flattened the ruler after pressing the shirt for six seconds and when I put the ruler on the shirt it started to melt after five shirt heat came off the shirt. Now the ruler will deform due to the heat generated by the shirt.
