Review on πŸ”’ Dorman 746-149 - Black Door Lock Actuator Motor for Compatible Models by Ryan Gilliam

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Removing the door was very easy. I recommend using a bungee cord.

I have ordered a passenger door lock actuator (Dorman 746-149) for a Ford F150 XLT. It arrived very quickly via USPS. I've searched both "2001 F150 door panel removal" and "2001 F150 door operator" on Youtube and found several videos detailing the removal and replacement procedures. Removing the door was very easy. I highly recommend using a bungee cord to keep the window channel out of the way. This only made removing the actuator easier. Nobody mentioned it, but I also pushed the two plastic holders holding the wires to the actuator back out of the door frame to make it easier for me to remove it. Due to the extra play I was getting I was able to remove the actuator with the electrical connector still attached. It was then very easy to remove the actuator with the electrical connector attached as the play allowed me to hold the actuator in my hand rather than disconnecting the electrical connector when it was attached to the door lock. It also allowed me to plug the connector into the drive before plugging it back in (and testing). The plastic holders were very easy to slide back through the holes to hold the wires in place without breaking them.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Non Automatic
