Review on Premium Sanus Systems LL11-B1 Ultra-Thin Flat Panel Mount for 51 x 80-Inch TVs by Payton Stovall

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice design, easy locking mechanism, super low profile but...

Last year I installed a 46" LCD using a cheaper Cheetah mount. It was fine, but for my next project (mounting a 55" screen) I wanted to try something with a lower profile. Cheetah offers a mounting surface of 1.3 inches from the wall, while Sanus offers a very low 0.55 inches. As it turned out, the LG 55LA7400 I was dealing with couldn't be mounted that close to the wall! Although the HDMI inputs are parallel to the wall, the bottom of the TV contains a casing (which houses the speakers and wireless adapter) that protrudes more than half an inch. However, the Sanus assembly kit comes with 3 different sized spacers and different M6 screws. The problem is that the screws that come with it are too big to use the shortest spacer. (They come with M6 1/4" and 3/4" bolts, but to use the shortest spacer you need a 1/2" bolt. A quick trip to the hardware store was necessary to complete the installation.) I like the design. Fasteners: Behind each of the vertical support bars you see in the picture is a quick release buckle that activates when the cord is pulled down. Once you pull on the quick release cords and pry the TV off the wall, two plastic tabs pop out that allow you to lean the TV against the wall, allowing you to access the back panel to insert/remove cables. The mounting surface will be more than 1 inch from the wall with the center standoff, defeating the low profile design. That could be achieved with a mount at a third of the cost of the sanus. For example Cheetah, which by the way allows you to tilt the TV +/- 10 degrees, which Sanus cannot do due to its ultra-slim design. from this one!) - Good build quality and nice design - Easy TV installation with push buttons and convenient quick release mechanism (by pulling the cord. A third of the star is subtracted for each one): - The price is a bit high. It is three times more expensive than Cheetah. Most competitor mounts have a built-in spirit level to make installation easier. These things are cheap and Sanus could throw one in for $80. - Not included the correct size screw on the smallest spacers. Conclusion: The ultra-slim profile can justify the price. I had to use spacers on my fancy LG TV, which defeats the purpose. So, in hindsight, I should have bought the Cheetah for less than a third of the price. With possibility of inclination. But I still recommend this product.
