We had visitors this weekend and fried steak cubes and porcini mushrooms with a skewer. They worked great, the handles weren't a burn hazard, and the spear points were sharp enough to pierce food but not so sharp as to be an unexpected hazard. But they also come in a nice, sturdy zip case that will keep them organized in your closet, ready for next time. Build quality is fine, no loose parts falling off or failing. 5 stars just for the care taken to ensure this simple, well designed product does exactly what it's supposed to.
