Not recommended - doesn't work and now I need to get my sprinkler system fixed

Living in Texas we rarely get cold weather but I bought this item on the off chance that frost might come. It fits my sprinkler pipes well and I was confident it would provide protection should I ever need it. Well, last week a rare freeze hit Texas. I drained the pressure switch as recommended by the installer and left an insulating cap on the entire open system. But today when I opened the faucet, water gushed out of the crack that had formed during the freeze. So the insulating cover didn't work and now I have to pay the installer to fix my sprinkler system.
