Used with a medium sized Labrador mix who likes to chew. The cord is more than strong enough to hold her or even a large dog. I was positively surprised by the robustness of the red plastic housing. Both tethers feel solid and can withstand the intense pulling, nibbling, and sudden twitches as she tries to chase the squirrels and is restrained. they don't hurt themselves. A 5-foot leash gives your dog 5 feet to get going.
