Review on WiFi router TP-LINK Archer A8, black by Adam Sterlinski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is top notch, be sure to try it.

I needed to upgrade from my aging DIR300 since the seasoned pro was becoming overwhelmed by the sheer volume of devices plugged into him at once. There were no issues with setting up the TV after the initial connection. But, I had to call TP-Link technical assistance to gain entry to the router and Wi-Fi configurations. Tether, their smartphone app, was crucial to the setup process. Hands-free smartphone operation is a nice bonus. Who is online and at what distance can be viewed. The frequencies used are either 2.4 or 5 GHz. I haven't figured out how the Smart feature evenly distributes the work among the ranges just yet. There are other levels, but I haven't climbed them yet because I don't want to cause any harm. Then things will return to normal. The speed has doubled while still functioning, but that's more of a question for the service provider. Continue investigating.

Pros
  • Very sick layout. Manufacturer-provided technical support. Nice set of features. With M. Video's bonus points, I was able to get it at a steep price.
Cons
  • The original set up was not without its issues. It turned out, for instance, that setting up the router without the Tether app and a call to technical assistance was quite difficult.
