Review on πŸ”§ ennoLogic TRMS eM860T Digital Multimeter – Auto Ranging DMM with Voltage, Current, Resistance, Capacitance, Frequency, Temperature, Non-Contact Voltage Detect, and Carrying Case by Antonio Fox

After toasting the last one due to a silly mistake, it was time to walk a bit.

After going through a couple of cheap multimeters and toasting the last one for making a silly mistake, it was time to move up a bit. However, the bewildering array of features and prices in this market required a lot of reading to get a vague idea of how the different offerings compare and how much you'll pay for features. The eM860T seems well-placed, has some advanced features and is reasonably priced. The biggest benefit was that great fuses can save your life if you end up working on higher voltage equipment (only do this if you know what you are doing - it can be quite impressive if you make even a simple mistake make ). The eM860T is big, comes with a case, good cables and even a temperature sensor. This is a very good gauge and it does everything I need to do as a hobbyist in electronics. It directly supports testing diodes, capacitors, LEDs (they light up!), resistors, fundamental frequency measurements, continuity tests and heavier auto and household work. If there's a problem with this device, it's a simple and trivial malfunction at this price point - the included zip case has a pocket for the instruction manual, but the manual slips out every time I flick the switch (you can use the counter without removing it from the case). It's okay, but a bit of flap material and a few loops and hook-and-eye closures would have made it a little better.

Pros
  • High scores for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Hard to say
