Great travel razor!

A few months ago I started shaving the old fashioned way with the Microtouch One butterfly safety razor. While it worked well, I had a feeling it could do better, so I switched to the Merkur 34C (which, by the way, is less than an inch longer than this razor, so if you're worried about the handle being too short, don ' Don't worry about that thing. And if you don't, go shopping! Maggard and a few other companies make pens that go with this thing) and I ended up deciding that I should get some when I travel. Well after a lot of research I settled on this razor (it's the Merkur 210 bar version). Pros: 1. It has the same head as my Merkur 34C so it's a pretty easy transition. It also folds up into a small pouch that even includes a sample Mercury Blade (that's how I found out Mercury Blades tug at my beard insanely, so back to the Rapiras).2. As mentioned, the grip is as long as the 34c and the knurling is great. I've never had a problem when I felt like I lost control of it when testing it at home and when using it when traveling.3. The travel case it comes in is small enough to fit in your pocket. When I first used this I went to a friend's house and put this razor in one pocket of my suitcase and a pack of Rapira Voskods and a travel jar of Barbasol in the other and I was good to go. 4. The fact that it consists of 4 parts makes it very easy to clean. I find it much easier to clean than my 34C which is two piece. I just take the whole thing apart, put it on a towel and wipe away the soap residue after the ride. I also add a drop of Singer Machine Oil, 4-Fluid Ounce, to the threads after taking it apart or even just replacing the blade. I also do this on my Merkur 34C (which says to do this every now and then and since both razors are from the same manufacturer I figured it couldn't hurt). You can also swap out different handles as mentioned, but I haven't played with that feature yet. Disadvantages: 1. Although it has the same head as the Merkur 34C, it has a different level of balance. While I find the 34C handle balances the head perfectly, the hollow handle makes this razor feel like a lead weight compared to the head. It's not much more aggressive, but it's something you might need to be aware of when using it for the first time, depending on what kind of blades you load it with when you first launch it. Use the same blades you use on your regular razor to get a feel for it before taking it on a trip. The top of the handle fits into the hollow bottom and sometimes it takes a little force to pull it out when you want to use it. Especially since he's been there for a long time. It's not really a problem, but more of an annoyance. UPDATE: I ended up putting this razor's head on a Maggard MR1 handle. And yes, it's a brand new animal. It actually shaves better than my Merkur 34C now, and I'll try the Maggard head (which is much more aggressive) on the hollow handle soon. In general I still give 5 stars because of the leather case and even the drain gives an excellent shave. Just don't think you can't improve it a bit by changing the grip or the head!
