This surge protector is designed to be wall mounted, which I did and I really like that feature. It's much easier to plug in and unplug than my previous backup battery/surge protector - it was so heavy it had to be placed on the floor in a tight corner and was very heavy and awkward to reach. Since I don't need a backup battery for the way I use my computer, this surge protector works really well for me. A recent storm caused a brief power outage and neither this unit nor the computer had the slightest signal. I also installed a 1TB WD My Passport external hard drive for Mac, which I also bought from amazon.com and I am very happy with it. However, a feature of this Tripp Lite surge protector caused a problem. The device came with a wired internet connection which I felt was necessary. However, after installing the device and connecting the cable to it, I noticed that the computer download speed dropped significantly to 9-10 Mbit / s. Because of this I had my ISP to check the connections. After extensive testing, the service representative determined that the network filter was the cause of the slowdown. I disconnected the cable from that and reconnected the cable directly to the modem for the computer. By bypassing the surge protection, the faster internet download speeds were fully restored to well over 66Mbps, and it's still being tested at that faster speed today. The internet service worker explained that his internet connection offers good surge protection without the need for additional surge protection. To ensure that this protection continues, he has tested and updated all hardware and connections between my computer and the main cable line. I am now very happy with the protection and computer performance of Tripp Lite. The price of this device was very reasonable and the customer service from Tripp Lite, based on my experience with them and the reviews I've read, is excellent. I would highly recommend this surge protector to anyone who finds it suitable for their specific needs.
