The look of our house is more traditional than modern (after all it was built in the late 80's) and it suits well in a style that can blend the traditional with the more modern. easy for two people with little experience. The only confusing thing was that the instructions also listed a Kwikset website where you could find more info on how to prep the door with the template, so we bounced between the website and the printed instructions for a while trying to figure it out which parts of each apply to our situation. In the end, while both were useful, the printed instructions that came with the lock probably would have sufficed. The key was simply figuring out which holes to drill and where. One of the best things about this pen is that there is some flexibility and flex in the placement of the bottom drill hole. The mechanism that holds the screw can move a bit which made the installation easier, especially since we were working on a door with an existing top opening and not a brand new door. The old setup from the 1980's wasn't perfectly straight, but that wasn't a problem due to the design of this grip - it was easy enough to adapt to the old while the new setup was still straight. Despite our initial confusion, the whole process took no more than 30 minutes. What I don't like about this pen is the black cap on the inside of the bottom. You install a screw from the outside (as detailed above) to secure the bottom of the handle. Where it is drilled put a round black cap on it to cover the screw inside. Limit the size of a coin. If our door were dark it wouldn't be as noticeable. But the inside of our door is white, which makes the black cap stand out. I think we'll get used to this, but it would be nice if this cap could be painted to match the color of the door. look great together and we are happy with the result.
