Review on Sight Glass Spigot for Travel Berkey and Big Berkey Systems by Michael Liguori

I just bought this sight glass fitting from this seller for my Big Berkey. It arrived fine and on time. The package came with a sleeve and a plastic nut with two washers. I read the instructions and also looked on YouTube how to attach this without breaking the nut. There are good instructions on YouTube, but I found that two washers came with this hub, both of which were FLAT. One is slightly thicker than the other, but both are flat. The Berkey instructions I received for the main filter mention a beveled washer for the pipe. This beveled washer goes on the outside and the flat washer goes on the inside - then hand tighten the nut until it is snug. I assembled the faucet, used it for about 10 days and then woke up to my counter floating in water. A drop-drop-drop flowed from the nozzle, where it is attached to the bottom of the filter. I figured I would just have to tighten it but after tightening it as tight as I could it didn't help as it kept dripping. I tightened it with pliers but it's still dripping! Then I read about the beveled puck again. So I found the original nipple that came with the Big Berkey and there was a beveled washer in the package! This matches the beveled glass tube to the container, I place a flat washer on the threads in the base and thread it onto the tube as tight as I can and lo and behold, no leaks! This glass spigot requires a bevel washer which was NOT supplied with this spigot. So I advise you to contact the seller to make sure you bought the correct washers! Sorry it's so long, but if I didn't have an unused Berkey base tube from another source I wouldn't be able to stop the leak. It's been almost 12 hours and no leaks.
