I bought these in February 2016. I use it 5 times a week to make chai lattes with tazo mix and milk (I didn't use the coffee part). It heats up and foams in about 4 minutes. I've read other reviews complaining about the cost of replacing the carafe and how easily it breaks. It is no easier to break than other glass carafes. The reason for the cost of replacement is that the heating element is at the bottom of the decanter. It basically sits on a fork at the base of the machine, so yes, you do need to be careful with it. I don't dip it in the laundry. I spray Dawn in, rinse with hot water and wipe dry immediately after each use, being careful not to bang it against the sink wall. I also didn't notice that the inner coating on the bottom of the carafe had broken off. It's the only one of its kind on the market that I can find. I hope Mr Coffee will continue to produce it. The best part is that I pay 70 cents for a drink that Starbucks sells for $4.50. Even if I buy single-use insulated coffee mugs, my cost is still less than $1.
