Review on πŸͺš Carbon Wooden Rethreading Drill by Drill America by James Roper

An expensive set goes well with a cheap case.

My husband is a handy man and loves all kinds of tools that help him with many things around our country house. When I saw this set I knew he would love it. Most of the time my husband needs a pipe die when cleaning out clogged pipe threads or restoring threads that were bent, warped, or badly cut to begin with; only occasionally does he have to tap a new thread on a special-length pipe. He used his father's old set of pipe bolsters for this, but they are incomplete and he only has 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4". Fortunately, those are also the sizes he encounters most often, but if he needed any of the others he had to borrow a set from a friend. This set has all the sizes needed for most typical domestic and light commercial pneumatic, gas and plumbing applications. All the sizes in this set and he has tested each both threaded and re-threading with the die handle (non-powered) All dies in this set work as they should and have the correct NPT cone which does an excellent job of removing dried pipe seals, it only needs a few turns when threading It will be a few years before he can say anything about their durability, but they should stay sharp if tapping is used every time a new thread is tapped l uses or even only WD-40 when forming threads. While the sensors themselves appear to be of fairly good quality, the packaging they come in is absurdly cheap and extremely low quality. In fact, one of the latches broke from the wood when we first opened the set. Not only was one of the locking screws bent, but the locking material itself is so thin that it can easily be bent. The hinge is okay, but not perfect, and we're not afraid of any failure. A plastic box would indeed be much better for them because the oil residue on the stamps had already started to soak into the wood. The value for money is not very good as there are sets from well-known brands at comparable prices that come in a plastic box. Would put a four, it would be cheaper.

Pros
  • Threading die
Cons
  • Not Safe
