I meant to use these as drain valves for two water filters (pre- and post-softener filters). The first one worked as planned, but yesterday I finally got around to changing the second filter and drilling the housing for the valve, and reassembled everything as I had with the first valve—And it leaks.Yes, water comes through in a steady drip, which is not satisfactory, especially in drought conditions. Fortunately, I was able to rummage around in my leftover plumbing-parts bin—DON'T THROW THAT AWAY, I MAY NEED IT SOMETIME!—and came up with a slightly rusted 1/8" NPT plug, and of course I found some Teflon tape that's been around forever, too, so I was able to turn off the water, disassemble the filter, and plug the hole.At this point I don't know if I am going to spend the money for another valve or just go back to spilling about a quart of water all over the place when I next change the filter. I have about six months to decide.
